Kingswinford Academy Drama Club Triumphs with "Oliver"

22nd March 2024

Kingswinford Academy's Drama Club recently wowed audiences with their production of "Oliver" on March 20th and 21st, 2024. Mrs. Cooper, the drama teacher, led the way, helping over thirty students to deliver a fantastic musical show after school.

This year, the Drama Club saw a huge number of students from Year 7 to Year 10 join, all eager to take their acting to the next level. They worked together to turn this club activity into something almost like a professional show, with the Music and Art & Design departments stepping in to make the music and set design really stand out.

One of the best things about this production was that it was open to all club members. There were no auditions—if you were part of the club, you got to participate. This made everyone feel included and encouraged them to put in their best effort. The students were so dedicated that they stayed late and used lunchtimes for rehearsals.

The performances sold out, and the audience was amazed by the talent on display. The students showed off their acting and singing skills, impressing everyone far more than expected. Mrs. Cooper praised the students for their effort and dedication. Adding to the accolades, Mr. Cotterill, the WAT Head of Performance, expressed his admiration for the production, saying, "This production not only showcased the exceptional talent of our students but also highlighted the importance of arts in education. It's a clear example of how dedicated time and space for creativity can lead to extraordinary outcomes."

The success of "Oliver" has turned the Drama Club into a tight-knit community where students can explore their interests, develop their talents, and form lasting friendships. It raised the bar for future shows and highlighted the value of school clubs in helping students achieve greatness.

To the Drama Club: Congratulations! Your hard work and team spirit have not only entertained us but also shown what's possible with dedication and teamwork. We're excited to see what you'll do next.
