Kingswinford Recycling Project
13th January 2023
Introducing our latest sustainability innovation in 3D printing technology - a filament manufacturing machine created by our very own DT Technician, Mr Edwards. Using old parts from 3D printers, Mr Edwards was able to craft a machine that can produce 3D filament made from old plastic bottles for our students to use in their projects.
Mr Edwards is keen to credit
JRT3D.COM whose YouTube tutorial he followed to build the machine. This machine not only saves our school money by repurposing plastic waste, but it also teaches our students valuable skills in recycling and repurposing technology. In the future, by using filament made in-house, our students can also experiment to enhance their 3D printing creations.
We are proud to have such a talented and resourceful technician on our team and can't wait to see what our students will create with our repurposed plastic as we refine our process. Check out the short video below to see the filament manufacturing machine in action!"
